Close to home, between two lakes

Buffalo is practically our backyard: the Wright County seat is about 15 minutes up Highway 25 from our home base in Delano. The city sits between two lakes, Buffalo Lake on the south and west side of town and Lake Pulaski to the north, with Sturges Park and its bandshell right across Highway 25 from downtown, where Buffalo Days takes over every June.

Buffalo’s homes cover a wide range. Older houses sit close to the downtown, which was platted back in 1856. Lakefront homes line Lake Pulaski and Buffalo Lake. And much of the town is newer, with subdivisions that have grown up around the edges over the past few decades.

Older homes and newer homes

Older homes tend to mean storm windows and more detail work around frames and sills; newer homes tend to mean bigger panes and taller glass. We’re set up for both, and we’ll tell you what your windows need before we start.

21 grains of hard water

Buffalo’s city water measures 21 grains per gallon, which the city itself calls very hard, and its water page warns that hard water leaves spots and film on dishes. Your windows get the same treatment from the sprinklers: the city keeps lawn watering off between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., so irrigation runs early and late, and the spray dries on the glass. Our water-fed poles rinse with purified water, and our hard-water stain removal takes care of spots that have built up.
